Some additions to the Halloween celebrations in Inlet this year should add to the spookiness and fun. On Friday, October 27, everyone is invited to Fern Park starting at 4:00 p.m. where a display of Halloween animatronics will fascinate the observers. Scary creatures will amaze and delight, or possibly frighten their onlookers. Also, anyone who wishes to pursue the activity of "trunk or treat" may bring a decorated motor vehicle to this venue and provide treats for the costumed kids.

Promptly at 6:30 the festivities become the Inlet Youth Commission's annual Halloween Parade & Party. The parade will begin at the church parking lot and proceed to Inlet Town Hall. Immediately following the parade, costume judging will take place the IVES building. Characters will be judged in a number of categories, established by age, groups, and families. Prizes will be awarded to everyone participating, and delicious goodies will be available for those in attendance.

Traditional Trick-or-Treating will take place on Tuesday, October 31. If you are in the Inlet area and plan to be home on Halloween to hand out treats, please contact Adele so she can put you on the list. The list will be distributed to the Inlet area children, and available upon request.

Contact Adele at 315-357-5501 or info@inletny.com if you would like to be on the October 31st Trick-or-Treat list and/or if you are interested in parking your vehicle for the October 27th Trunk-or-Treat.

Our 17th Annual Community Pride Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

On this day, many towns will be working together to clean up the streets and begin thinking about a prosperous summer. The area schools also participate by taking their students outdoors to help. All volunteers, students and teachers who show up on this day will receive a free t-shirt and a free lunch. If you wish to help clean, you can sign up in advance (this helps guarantee a shirt for you) or show up on the day of. Each town will have their own instructions about where to pick up your shirts, where to find supplies (trash bags, gloves, water, etc.), what to do with the trash after you pick it up, and where to gather for lunch.

All sponsors of at least $30 and anyone who contributes towards lunch for your town will have a one line listing (name only OR website only) on the back of the shirts. Anyone contributing $100 or providing more than 50% of the lunch for their town gets their logo on the shirts. If you want to be on the shirts, you must send your contribution, or make your lunch commitment before April 6th. The money collected for this event ensures every volunteer, student and teacher will receive a shirt.

An Inlet Historical Society Presentation.

Adirondack author William J. "Jay" O'Hern's Spring Trout & Strawberry Pancakes program invites you to take a journey back to the old-time camps and homesteads to meet backwoods characters and see some of the rough shelters guides built.

The aromas of balsam and wood smoke, freshly-caught trout frying in a skillet, and homemade bread baking in a reflector oven would be just a few of the countless pleasures if time travel were possible .

You could talk with Charley and Anna Brown about the change of seasons and how the fishing had been. Anna could tell you how to replace baking powder with baking soda and cream of tartar and what to substitute for eggs if the hens hadn't been doing their job.

From such chats you would form for yourself a comfy little picture of those old folks holed up in their snug little cabin back in the woods beyond the foot of the lake, sharing their everyday jobs and pleasures.

The great thing is that Jay's program makes time-travel about as close to possible as one can get, and you'll swear you did meet some of his timeless characters and get a whiff of that homemade bread.
