My husband and I were driving through on our way back home from an anniversary gettaway to Lake Placid this weekend. I must say that Inlet was the most beautiful little village we passed through from Lake Placid to White Lake! My husband and I plan on bringing the kids up this summer and staying on Fourth Lake...maybe even build a camp in your area some day. I have only been in New York State for a few short years and I marvel every time we make it up into the north country. The Adirondacks are the most beautiful mountains in the world!

reading excerpts from Anne LaBastille, "WoodsWoman".. i wood like to meet her.. i would love to visit , this web sight is great..but her story is the greatest soul felt connection to the life of the Adirondacks..an inspiration no matter where you're from or where you're going, being able to write,,live and tell about such an awesome place..she's definitely one that does not follow a path, but has made trail, for hundreds to share her passion..me I have never camped alone or with anyone..I want this to be my first camp in the Adirondacks..

Hello; Desperately seeking information regarding an appearance at that restaurant facility (the Halfway House) when a then popular vocal singing/instrumental music group appeared at that site. They were called "The Four Freshmen". and were a nationally known entity in that era, (before The Beatles, etc came on the scene.) Anyway I have recently acquired a reel to reel audio tape taken at an event at the Halfway House. Some comments on this audio tape by the audience include comments like, "Look at all the photos somebody is taking of these guys". So I wonder is there maybe someone still living around that area who might have atttended or know anything at all about that long time ago happening. Really appreciate any ideas from you. Love your site Spent many happy summertimes there; with lots of memories ---- still get up there occasionally, ----one of our favorite places in all the world; . . . . Thanks

i used to have a camp on bisby lake of the fulton chain (the first one built there actually) and have not been for almost seven years. The camp was sold out of the family for IRS reasons and the individual who bought it now refues to sell it back as he was going to. If you are lucky enough to experience the magic of the adirondacks and that area cherish every single moment, for i took my 15 years of visiting there for granted and can never return to my favorite and the most peaceful place on earth.

took a "discovery" program for the first time this year. it was for a 6am sunrise canoe trip down the Moose River with Tichnor's canoes. we had about 17 people go that morning. 2 people went in kayaks, and 8 went in canoes and 7 of us went in a war canoe. we had a great guide and saw 2fawns, a doe, otter and a mink. the guide didn't rush us down the river and when we got to the dam, coffee and tea was made on a stove on the shore. after resting for about a half hour, we paddled back. altogether, the trip lasted about 3hrs and was completely free. can't believe that it was free! i kayak and had never been on the Moose River before. now, my family plans to take another trip by ourselves and do alittle exploring. also did a "discovery" program in the town of Inlet. it was a slide show about Inlet. very good show. great seeing all the activities that people do in the winter and how many buildings in town have changed. can't wait to come up again and do more of these fine free programs.

As a child, we always spent two weeks on 4th. Lake in Eagle Bay (near Inlet). My husband and I also brought our children several times. In Inlet, I remember the wonderful ice cream store on the bend and I always got a huge "SUGAR DADDY" pop that lasted me until the next summer. My great-aunt, Maude Anderson, once owned a camp on 4th. Lake. Who can forget Teich's Trading Post in Eagle Bay where you just had to stop on your way to your cottage? Hopefully, one day we will visit again.

I was raised in Inlet and didn't leave until 1941 to go into the USMC. Love to hear from anyone that was there in the 30's or 40's.

The snowmobiles have destroyed the streets, now they're all sandy and the sidewalk is awful for walking. I suggest someone might clean them...?

Hi people. I'm interested in a 4 wheeler club or information on where I can ride one in the park or areas close to it. I enjoy going through the woods at 10 mph and not tearing down a road at the speed of light. I enjoy the time out by looking around and just taking life at bay. The conservation has put alot of boundries on this. Guess what i'm looking for is trails that would follow those guidelines. If anyone can steer me in the right direction? Please drop me an e-mail. Thanks. Roger

Don Bird - Good to see your still flying and that the Inlet area of Adirondacks is flourishing. Talk to Ben Gay occasionally and he advises me on your status. Hope you and family are well. I get mountain fever on occasions and I then travel to beloved Adirondacks. God willing I may drop in sometime during my travels. Respectively, Erv

I love Inlet! We just made our reservations at Harvey's cottages for the week of July 28. This will be the second summer my husband and daughters visited Inlet. They are 4 yrs old and 8 months old. We're looking forward to starting a new family summer tradition. My mom grew up in Inlet and I used to come up from Rochester all the time with my siblings. Went to Camp Gorham every summer. I'm looking forward to my kids and husband enjoying the area as much as I did (and still do)!

just got back from inlet and as usual im heart broken ,didnt want to leave and come back to the big city, the snowmobiling was good but very crowded because of new years, they have @ 8-10 inches on the ground and the trails are kind of rough, the lakes are not frozen yet,if i had to guess it will take another few weeks to freeze them solid, while i was up there it snowed every day a few inches every nite,my hat goes off to all the great people of old forge, inlet that make us visitors feel like we belong there, you guys and gals are truly the bestand ill see you in a few weeks GOD BLESS USA
