An old forest road leads to a scenic, backcountry pond! 

Getting there

From the intersection of Route 28 and Big Moose Road in Inlet follow Big Moose Road. Continue on Big Moose Road to Twitchell Road. Follow Twitchell Road for just over 2 miles to the Twitch Lake boat launch site and trailhead.

Hiking

This trail starts along an old forest road which can be a bit wet in spots, but easy to navigate and quite scenic. At 0.4 mile you will come to an intersection which leads to Oswego Pond. Remain on the main trail which is slightly left. The trail continues along the old road and soon comes a very attractive backcountry lake — Silver Lake. A short, unmarked side path leads to the shore. Past Silver Lake, you will climb a bit and you need to start looking for the unmarked continuance of the trail on the right. The road continues up and over the hill but a foot trail breaks off to Razorback Pond. Once on the trail it can be a bit overgrown in spots but a nice hike along a narrow tread. Pass through the open field once you come to it and descend slightly to the shore of Razorback Pond. This is an excellent pond for trout fishing, birding, and wildlife viewing.
