Winter Events

The Adirondacks in winter are known for their scenic beauty, fantastic skiing, and out of this world snowmobiling, but there are also lots of other great things going on that you may not know about! Here is a list of some of the events going on in our neck of the woods!

11/29 - 12/1/19 Christmas on Main Street - Inlet
Get started with your holiday shopping while enjoying some of the fun events all around town! Participate in the Ugly Sweater Contest, watch the Christmas Tree Lighting, hunt for candy canes, and so much more.

11/30/19 Oak Mountain Dyno Port Hill Drags - Speculator
Watch snowmobiles race 3-wide up the lower part of the mountain! A great event to spectate or participate in! Watch mountain side or from the comfort of the bar.

12/6/19 Oak Mountain Holiday Fair - Speculator
Enjoy live local music, fun crafts for the kids, and visit the Christmas Shoppe as well as the Festival of Trees.

12/14/19 30th Annual New York Shootout - Inlet
Snow or no snow, the shootout must go on! There will be plenty of food and beverages as well as fun snowmobile races to watch.

Long Lake Polar Bear Plunge
12/28/19 Polar Bear Plunge - Long Lake

If you're feeling brave (as well as philanthropic!) head to the Long Lake Beach for the annual Polar Bear Plunge! Warning: you will get wet, and you will get cold! But it's all for a good cause. Proceeds will go to St Jude's Children's Hospital.

1/18/20 Winter Carnival - Long Lake
Enjoy free ice skating and sledding, watch ice sculpture carving, and participate in the annual cardboard box race!

1/25 - 1/26/20 Winter Birding Weekend - Long Lake
Join Joan Collins for free birding tours and an afternoon presentation, followed by dinner at the Adirondack Hotel.

1/25/20 Mike Norris Fishing Derby - Raquette Lake
Fish Raquette Lake for lake trout, brook trout, perch, and salmon! Win cash prizes and have a fun day on the ice.

Fish for trout and landlocked salmon on Long Lake and Lake Eaton!

2/14 - 2/23/20 Snocade - Indian Lake
This annual week-long event is happening once again! Enjoy all things snowmobile, including guided tours, fireworks, and more.

2/15 - 2/16/20 Winter Carnival - Raquette Lake
Come out to the Raquette Lake Winter Carnival and work on your putting with a little ice golf, run the snowshoe relay, and so much more.

2/16 - 2/22/20 Winter Wonderland Week - Long Lake
Fun kids events, movie nights, and more will take place all through President's Week. 

Inlet Fire and Ice
2/29/20 Frozen Fire & Lights - Inlet

Head to Fern Park for free ice skating, sledding, and cross-country skiing! There will also be live music and fireworks.

3/7/20 Adult & Kids Fishing Derby - Long Lake
Families with kids 15 and under can come out for this ice fishing derby! Best of all, it's free and there are cash prizes for pike, perch, and trout!
