Stockings and Stories: A Ball for Us All

A cozy holiday fundraiser in support of the Old Forge Library.

Throughout the evening, guests can look forward to a welcoming atmosphere filled with laughter, music, and holiday spirit.

  • Location: The Covey Pashley American Legion Post #893
  • Time: Monday, December 8, from 5-7 pm.
  • Tickets: $20

Event Details:

  • Live music will be provided by Jim & Chris from Brantingham, whose performance will set an upbeat and friendly tone for the event.
  • Guests will enjoy an assortment of homemade appetizers prepared by library board members, staff, and Friends of the Library.
  • Joe Rintrona, Kate Bartlet, and Judy Foley are preparing meatballs, while Beverly Meeker and Linda Weal are creating cheese balls.
  • Desserts will be contributed by celebrated local bakers Dave Berkstresser, Linda Martin, and Chris Widay, adding a sweet finish to the evening.
  • The raffle of eleven quilted holiday stockings generously donated by quilter Marie Henry, whose exhibition Marie Henry: The Art of the Quilt was displayed at the library in June 2025.
    • Each stocking has an individual value of fifty dollars before the added contents.
    • The library team has filled the stockings with an assortment of donated items that range from beautiful to delightfully quirky.
    • Standout contributions include handmade ceramic dishes and necklaces by artist Bonnie Petty.
    •  One stocking is intentionally uncensored and features salty language merchandise, offering a humorous twist. The mix is varied and lighthearted, designed purely for fun and surprise.

Tickets are $20, and all proceeds will support the Old Forge Library and its programs, services, and community resources.

The library looks forward to welcoming guests to an evening filled with warmth, creativity, and holiday cheer as the community gathers to celebrate and support a treasured local institution.
