An Adirondack experience

Hamilton County is situated in the heart of the Adirondacks, where you will be immersed in wilderness and stunning scenery. We are home to some of the first settlements in the Adirondacks and historic logging villages. Our natural resources, outdoor recreation, and breathtaking scenery have contributed to our unique history and attractions.

Here is the ideal location to take a quiet snowshoe hike to a historic fire tower and get a bird’s eye view from the summit of an Adirondack mountain peak, or relax on a summertime cruise touring Raquette Lake while learning about the history of the Great Camps, which are late 19th century wilderness retreats known for their rustic and refined architecture. They were resorts for only the wealthiest of vacationers, including the Vanderbilts and Rockefellers.

For anyone wanting to experience art and history, spending a day at the legendary museum, Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, fondly known as the Smithsonian of the northeast, is a local favorite. The museum's extensive campus is the hallowed repository of some of our most cherished stories, offering exhibits, interactive displays, events, and workshops.
